A GIANT OBJECT BUILT IN 15 MONTHS
The construction of “Continental Automotive Lithuania” electronic components factory began in July 2018. The production, administration and warehousing facilities (23,000 sq. meters) were built in just 15 months. The company invested 95 million euros, which became significant for the development of the automotive industry not only in Kaunas, but in the whole country as well. It is planned to employ up to 1 thousand workers by 2021. The factory is set to receive the prestigious internationally recognized “LEED Gold” certification for its impressive construction process solutions. The “Continental” project was developed by “Baltic Engineers”. General contracting and construction company “Conresta” has become one of the two main contractors for the project. We were entrusted with the construction of the first and then the second phase of the project development.
The complex consists of two buildings. The main building covers an area of almost 20 thousand sq. meters and has 17-meter-high production and storage facilities. The front of the building has two floors administrative premises. There is a separate staff restaurant, common open-plan work areas, lounges, patios, a gym, and an outdoor basketball court. The complex also includes a separate technical building of more than 1 thousand sq. meters, as well as storage shelters and security posts.
“All of the special materials, the specific requirements and the adjustment work involved a number of risks. We had to work carefully, everything had to meet the highest requirements of terms and quality, thus we were always looking for the optimal solutions. There were daily meetings to discuss everything in detail, and the goals discussed had to be achieved the next day. All of our partners have made a great contribution in understanding the importance of this object,” says L. Laukaitis.
